Mirta here. I’ve been meaning to post these pictures since the 25th and before I knew it…it was May! As some of you may know, Flamenco Dance is one of my passions. I’ve been dancing since 1989 and love it! (I must have been a gitana in a past life.) Flamenco is great because you can dance with a partner or by yourself. You can be young, old, fat or skinny…it’s all in the attitude. I performed with Angelta’s Concierto Flamenco on April 24th in the city of Paramount. We did one evening performance and our good friend Tamara Young came out to see me dance. Thanks, Tamara, for supporting the arts! Joe had a great seat and captured these amazing images with his Nikon D3. These images were shot at either 6400 or 8000 ISO and I think that’s pretty amazing! He had on the 70-200 at 2.8. Here are some highlights. Enjoy! Our next show will be on October 24th in Baldwin Park. Stay tuned for info as the date draws near.
Here I am dancing Sevillanas
This is the other Mirta, but she spells her name Mirtha. I’ve known her for years and she is a beautiful dancer.
Here is the star of the show and our teacher, mentor and inspiration…Angelita. I love how Joe caught her eye peeking through her hand in the image on the left. Check out the attitude on the right image…puro Flamenco!
Harut and Maribel dancing Bulerias.
Assieh La Mora dancing her dramatic Tango, Flamenco style, of course.
The whole company doing Jaleos. Tons of energy!
This is my favorite image of the whole night. Angelita looks breathtaking as she danced her Guajira. One day I hope to learn this beautiful dance (the song is about a Cuban girl, you know…) 🙂
At the end of the evening we came out dancing the Rumba to “Verde”. We danced in our street clothes and had a great time.
